Based on the hymn tune “Ash Grove,” this arrangement for young band opens with a brass fanfare before presenting the full tune. Even the low brass and low reeds get the melody in this one, and a saxophone quartet introduces a variation in counterpoint. The fanfare and melody are superimposed for a thrilling conclusion.
